Renton-Realtor, school board director, and community leader Marcie Maxwell announced today she will run for State Representative from the 41st Legislative District in 2008. This is the seat being vacated by Fred Jarrett as he prepares to run for the State Senate.
“I’ve been working on quality of life issues for years in Renton and on the Eastside. I’m excited about the possibility of working in the state legislature to make a real difference on issues like transportation, education and economic development,” said Marcie Maxwell.
Marcie Maxwell is a lifelong Puget Sound area resident and a Windermere Realtor for the past 18 years. She has been publicly elected to two terms on the Renton School Board. She is past Chairman of the Board for the Renton Chamber of Commerce. She has been recognized as Renton’s “Citizen of the Year” and “Outstanding Business Citizen Award”. She is a founding board member of the Renton Community Foundation, a board member of the Kennydale Neighborhood Association, and the current President of the Renton Rotary. Marcie has been active in many campaigns supporting public schools, and serves as Legislative Representative for King County school boards with the Washington State School Directors’ Association.
“The 41st district is very focused on local and regional issues especially creating jobs, reducing traffic congestion, and improving public schools. These priorities match my priorities I will work for in Olympia,” said Maxwell.
Marcie lives in Renton with her husband Steve Maxwell. Steve is a retired King County Sheriff’s Deputy.
